PHOTO OF THE WEEK : FORT STEILACOOM PARK

Fort Steilacoom Park

This week’s photo of the week is from Fort Steilacoom Park is located in Lakewood, Washington and is the largest park in the city.  The park includes Waughop Lake, recreational areas, and a dog park.  There is a lot of history behind this park.  In 1844, it became a homesteader’s farm.  In 1849, it became Fort Steilacoom.  And, in 1868, the government purchased it for the use of the Insane Asylum for Washington Territory.
