I volunteered with elephants in Thailand back in May and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! It’s amazing how quickly you form connections with them! Where did you volunteer?

You’re right. I want to sign up! I’ve visited the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage near Kandy in Sri Lanka and the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi and as fabulous as they are, I think volunteering would be even better.

They are so beautiful! We volunteered at Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai and loved it! Can’t wait to do it again. (http://www.poplartravels.com/elephant-nature-park-chiang-mai/) Looks like you are having a great time in Thailand!

I’m totally jealous – you’re making me want to hug an elepant right now. (Can you hug the elephants? I’m not entirely sure how that would work, but I want to do it.)

I volunteered at the Elephant nature Park in November last year, it was an amazing experience! I would love to return.

You are right Ashley, elephants really are gentle giants if they are tame! But unfortunately I have seen them being mistreated badly in order to make them tame, that I personally really prefer seeing them in the wild…

I don’t need your photos to convince me to volunteer. I’ve been itching to try it. Definitely on my list of things to do when I’m in Thailand next. Elephants are such cool creatures!

Nice photos but can you tell us what you were able to do as a volunteer? And I’ve also heard, as Dennis said, these elephants aren’t naturally so tame. They certainly are amazing.

Nice photos of such wonderful creatures. We spent a month at ENP not far from Chiang Mai volunteering with the dogs at the shelter, but we were with the elephants too and learnt so much about them, it’s an incredible experience that I suggest to everyone 🙂
